So what's the point of wood blades besides being cheap? Is there any benefit to using them these days when we have the nice carbon fiber blades available? Just curious......

Wood blades were used when carbon was too expensive. They offer a cheap alternative but are not really designed for high rpm. Because the density of the wood can vary (knots etc) its hart to maintain an identical COG. And they are also a bit heavier, not as stiff, and usually require balancing out of the bos. I dont know too many people who fly wood now days. And as @Stuart says, they burn better... Only if you were flying very low rpm and were crashing alot and needed something just to get you into the air would i use them.

That's what I figured, but had to ask anyway. I've been looking at blades online and noticed there are still plenty of wood blades for sale.... cheap.... probably just to get rid of them. I couldn't imagine anyone still using them these days.
The fiberglass blades Im running seem to work fine for now, but I'll get some CF soon enough.

You will notice a difference... possibly small at this stage but nonetheless all the small improvements add up....
