Hi Guys, there has been some discussion about the upcoming transmission system that is patent pending, see below a brief explanation of the meaning and benefits of this design. See CAD drawing below and the pictures taken at IRCHA.
TDD means Torque Dampened Drive.
Its components consist of a special hub that houses two rubber dampers, one on each side of the hub. The dampers are held in place by a pin that is threaded on both sides which takes the place of the Jesus bolt in normal drive systems. The pin is held in place by two hex screws and a washer.
The system reduces the initial impact of torque that can occur with today's more responsive governors. powerful electric motors, and during aggressive collective and cyclic maneuvers--hard stops, etc. It is designed to decrease loading on the entire tail drive system and thus decrease wear and tear of the tail drive system.
