Hey everyone, I'm wondering if any members could give me information about which heli clubs are currently vibrant/active in the Melbourne area?

I'm a member of a good club (planes and helis) though all the heli flyers have deserted it and unfortunately it's no longer the most inspirational place to fly. It had a great bunch of blokes but they've all left the hobby in the past couple of years.

I don't know if all clubs have felt this huge slump in member numbers but I thought I'd reach out as I really want to keep flying; it's just a bit depressing after 4 years flying again by myself...espec at club...I've lost a lot of interest/enthusiasm as a result.

I'm not confident to fly down the park due to the risk as where ever I go someone always seems to walk past within a few minutes; I prefer to fly in a safe environ.

I know there are the Freestylers and Melbourne heli clubs that cater just to heli flyers, but I honestly don't know how vibrant they are on a weekend.

I'd be flying solely on weekends (Sat/Sun morning) and would like to join a club which has regular flyers so I can make some new flying buddies that would be there regularly.

    Any info would be appreciated!

Freestylers, Melb Heliclub, Marcs. All got some good flyers there. I think there are about 60ish members in Melbourne Heliclub, How many in freestylers @3dmick? At any rate there are plenty. Freestylers and Melbourne Heli Club are helis only

Marcs club is most active, it's busy on weekends. Mrchc would be right up there, but the quality of pilots, hands down the best.

Cheers guys. I've flown once at Marcs and they were really welcoming and a nice bunch of blokes. I'll have to drop down and check out Mrchc and AFF as well.

It's a bit sad my current club has petered out as it was an excellent heli club in the past and it's a great location (GMAC in Yarrambat).
