Question? Goblin 420 - How Much Of A 380 Will It Be?

    Well @3dmick informs me that the 420 is mainly made from 380 bits. If this is true (and i hope it is) it raises some questions...

    Will the frames be the same? I see no reason to change them.
    Will the micro servos have enough tourque? I had to use BKs on the cyclic in order to make it work
    Will the motor be suitable? I cant see why not, the existing motor very rarely struggles
    Blades... If the head is the same then there is not too many blades at 420 that will fit in the bladegrip holders.
    What tail mods will be required? I have not had any tail holding issues (but then again i use a cgy750n- reported as much better tail holding) and will the extra head size demand bigger tail blades?
    Whats going to be the sweetspot re rpm?

      Just a stretched 380.
      Reports are same blade grips, so no other existing 420 blades will fit - meaning will have to be limited with running SAB blades...

      I can see it now..... with every $300.00 set of 420 SAB blades you get a free stretch kit.....

      I see the 420 as a good "business" decision for SAB.
      They killed the pig selling thousands of 380's, and now will get to sell thousands of stretch kits and 420-kits as the 420 should solve any issues over the 380 being a pig.

      Funny thing is, i never felt like the 380 was slow. But then again i use the tareq motor and spin it pretty fast. But even so everything is pretty reliable at that rpm. Manyc put his spankin new protos380 next to the gobby 380 today and with dry weight i could not feel a big difference. But even so, the 380 protos is a nice heli and it sits well in the air...

      It would be interesting to get some scales out.. But if a 100g is a big deal on a 700.. Imaging it on a 380

      Yes correct @Manyc it is... 100g when you are changing direction at say 30G would be 3KG of weight

      I reckon I'll be giving the stretch a go. The SAB TB blades will be fine for my basic skills and I'm sure other blade manufacturers will follow suit pretty quickly with a 5mm root. And don't forget good old Lynx, they'll probably come out with some 10mm grips as well.
