The day started for me with an early call from Stu. He had arrived at the MRCHC field to find many cars and was concerned about whether flying was on for the day or not (had school resumed??). A quick call to Roger Chapman.. no luck. I later found out that Stu being the resourceful fella he is, had contacted the school reception who advised that staff were back only... flying was on!!!.......
I had a few things on this morning, but once these were completed, I had the pedal to the metal. I wasn't able to get to the field fast enough. Arriving at around 12:30pm, I found Brent, Stu and Roger Chapman already setup and flying.
It had turned out to be a wonderful day with blue skies and no wind early in the morning. The wind had picked up a little by the time i arrived at the field, staying constant with fresh breezes and a bit of gust throughout the day, but was perfectly flyable
Shortly after my arrival, Bryan Stu arrived and by around 3pm most had left leaving Roger and I at the field until......
Enter Crashheligod... errrrr Ray Close Smakmeharder. Ray finally showed up at the club around 3pm and so it was set, Ray, Roger and I for the remaining day period.
Brent (I just cant stop popping)
Brent had brought with him his Compass Chronos (700) and I noticed the Synergy 766 neatly sitting in the back of Brents ute in fine condition.
A bit of a catchup followed in the club house and then Brent was swiftly out on the flight line again with his Chronos. Boy oh boy..... Brents flying is such crowd pleaser that's for sure. I don't think that Chronos (if it was able to) had any time to even think about what was going on. Before Brent had pushed the Chronos inverted down into a hard stop, he had it popping in the other direction and its blades let out a deep groan in satisfaction). The sheer power of that heli and its stopping power..... (very nicely dialed in if I say so myself).... its as though you could feel the shockwaves from each precise and hard stop throughout his flight. Brents flying was hard, low and off the deck throughout and so so so precise. If you have a chance to every watch Brent fly, don't miss it... That Boy Can Fly... Finally Brents transmitter was shrieking, "give the Chronos some time to breath and land it boy".. LOL.
The Chronos had landed and I'm sure all watching were secretly clapping .
(I just reread the above, chuckling to myself, I think Ive nailed crashheligods pornheli target LOL).
(Sadly no photos for Brent this time)
Stuart
Stuart had with him today his Synergy E7SE and his Synergy E6. Watching Stuarts flying during the afternoon was very enjoyable indeed. The last time I saw Stu flying was back in Nov last year and it was evident that Stus flying had improved immensely. Stu put his e7se and E6 through half piro flips, flips, loops and circular flights in all orientations with some nice transitions thrown in the mix.
Gosh I love the way Synergy E7se's fly. Stuart e7se flew great. I learnt later that Stu had fitted out his e7se with 716 main blades / 106 tail blades and that during the course of the day Stu had reduced dual rates and increased his expo to try to get his E7se to be less twitchy off centre. Stu commented his heli still felt like It accelerated quickly once away from centre. I recommended Stu try reducing roll rates in his cgy750 and put his dual rates back to 100 - to achieve better resolution of control and consider being less aggressive with his expo (so that that his curves were a little more linear to stop that acceleration effect.
Whilst I enjoyed Stuarts flying today, it was also very very painful to watch knowing my E7se was still out of action. Aching right now
Great flying today mate even though it hurt me to watch
Bryan Stu
First things first, condolences for the 380 Bryan, but with the rekit coming from Zenrc and our good old mate Sean, sounds like your 380 will live again.
Bryan had his Goblin 630, Align 600 Nitro night rig today from what I saw. He put both helis through there paces but watching the Trex 600N was the highlight of his flights for me. I don't think I will ever own a nitro heli, but just watching them fly always brings a smile to my face. Some more pics of Bryan Stus Nitro night rig below.
Roger Chapman
Roger had brought with him today his Trex 700DFC and his older Titan 90 - Thunder Tiger. Roger has been away from flying helis for a while. He told me, today was his 3rd day in a row of flying and he was starting to get into a rhythm again. Sure hope we see more of ROger in the near future. BTW. That trex 700L looks great!!
Ray Close
Back for some more today with the Goblin 420, Ray wasted no time and flow his 6 or so packs back to back at the rear flight line before returning to the club house for some more cooking.
It wasnt long before Ray was putting that efficient popping machine through its paces again. The 420 zipped through the sky as Ray took the 420 through several inverted piro circles which looked great and more refined compared to last weeks. Rays flying never dissapoints, but it was very difficult getting any descent photos of the 420 as Ray had that small powerhouse moving through the sky and changing directions faster than i could keep up. Might have to focus on more static photos of Rays heli in future. .
Nabil
During the week i managed to get that parts list to Zenrc in order get that E7se back in the air again. All up damage was light but boy do those small components add up. Overall main bits needed included, main shaft, feathering shaft, tail boom, main gear, auto gear, canopy, main blades, tail blades. I had most of the other bits a spares such as main shaft bearings and main grip bearings. Not quite a rekit but close....
Overall excited to be receiving these spares in such a short time space too. Great to have a local supplier !!!!
Not much more pleasure with the 500L Dominator this week (despite a promising start with the the new Brain2). My 500L gyro the Brain2 developed permanent damage during further bench testing this week - Lots of vertical sensor out of range errors starting popping up despite only being 10 flights old. As per my last weeks post, its going back. Poor old 500L may sit out flying for a while until the replacement gyro arrives. Will have to wait and see what ZenRC say.
So as you may have guessed, i was down to the Trex 600L dominator for todays flying. My flying today started off a little cautious, (as you do when you are down to 1 heli, hopefully back to 3 by next). But by mid afternoon, my natural passion for hard flying started getting the better of me. By the time Ray had hit the field, i couldnt help myself, particuarly after watching Brent earlier in the morning and Rays current flying.... it was enough to spur me on again and pretty soon i was pushing hard and eventually doing one of my better hard flights.
Hard and fast piro aileron and elevator tic tocs, fast inverted backward hurricanes and with hard transition full collective pull outs into piro flips and aggressive collective pumping and piro flip pogos. My heli agreed unanimously that it was a hard hard hard flight (probably my hardest so far)------> Beeeeeeeeeeeeep Beep, Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep, Beep, Yep, my CC castle ESC was talking to me after the flight and telling me how much it liked my smaking (According to CC manuals i read that ----> long beep short beep means flight caused an over current outside of range.....Poor Poor 600L. I felt it though as i walked away from the flight line with wobbly knees.
What i didnt mention above was i also have been throwing a flight or two on my FPV Xhover 250 Drone racer.
FPV is a totally out of body experience for me at the moment so its very touch and go at the moment.
I did a few FPV flights before switching back to the 600L for the remainder of the afternoon. For the time being lets just say that FPV flying doesnt quite do it for me, but its a growing passion and i may report on it in future in more detail. Here is a pic of my drone below with all the coloured bling
My last few flights on the 600L were focussed more on refining pogo piroflips. I had been doing these on the sim (Real flight) for a few weeks, but until today had not been game in attempting them at the field. They seemed to come together pretty nicely for me today during my hardestflight (being my first real attempt at these).
I focused on getting these vertically symmetrical for up and down motions during my last few flights and things seemed tp coming together nicely.
Finally wrapping up and leaving at 730 pm to spend the remainder of the night playing board games with my 3 little ones and ultimately putting together this journal after they fell asleep.
Signing off and hopefully more flying on Sunday. Till then good night and safe flying tomorrow ppl.
P.S Really love the pics from this weekend. Hope you do too!
